Google is moving Android Developers Blog news and engineering posts from Blogger to developer.android.com/blog. For developers who follow the publication through a feed reader or team digest, the immediate action is to update the subscription as well as the bookmark.
The Android Developers Team's notice is dated October 15, 2026 and explicitly asks readers to update both. It describes improved formatting, navigation and closer integration with technical content. Those are Google's stated aims for the move, rather than measured improvements in how quickly developers find an answer.
Use the feed linked by Google
The announcement's RSS link and the new homepage's RSS link both lead to this official Atom feed. Add that address to the feed reader you use for Android developer news, then confirm that an entry opens its corresponding post on the new blog.
When TechKili checked on October 19, the endpoint returned an Atom XML document containing entries and links to the destination blog. That confirms the current subscription address; it does not guarantee that a particular reader has imported it correctly or that every historical post is present.
For a team digest, keep the existing read history while checking the new source, rather than treating familiar articles as new simply because the subscription changed. Atom's specification distinguishes entry identity, publication time and update time. An updated timestamp should not automatically become the date of a new announcement. The migration notice does not promise that old and new feed identifiers map identically.
Keep release guidance beside the news stream
The destination brings the blog under the same domain as Android's technical documentation. It already displays posts with dates before October 15, so the notice should not be read as the creation date of the whole site.
The blog is useful for discovering a change and its context. A decision to update a development environment still needs the relevant technical detail. Google's Android Studio introduction, for example, directs readers to the separate Android Studio release notes for the latest changes. Keep that distinction when sharing a blog announcement with a team: preserve its date and link onward to the documentation for the affected version.
The notice does not establish a permanent redirect policy for old posts or a shutdown date for the historical archive. Update the news source Google identifies, while retaining old article links where they remain the evidence for an earlier engineering decision.
